What to do in Southern Oregon

ASPEN POINT DAY USE AND CAMPGROUND AT LAKE OF THE WOODS

We love going to Lake of the Woods!  It’s such a beautiful clean lake great for swimming, kayaking and all of the water sports that we love.  While we enjoy the resort area (who doesn’t love giant ice cream scoops), we do appreciate calmer areas that are less crowded so the kids can swim with lots of room.

Aspen Point at Lake of the Woods has become a go to spot for us.  You do still have to pay a $7 day use fee but there are a lot less boats around and the swimming area doesn’t get as crowded. There are also picnic tables and restrooms with flush toilets.

If you want to spend more than just the day there, they have a campground right there along with a  beautiful, well-maintained bike and walking trail.  It’s a loop trail that takes you all around Lake of the Woods, past Fish Lake, through campgrounds, and open meadows. At a flat 6.5 miles it's a great hike or bike ride to take the kids on.  Make your reservations HERE if you'd like to camp!

No matter if you want to spend the day or the weekend, it’s a gorgeous serene spot to enjoy the beauty of southern Oregon. If you want to grab that giant ice cream scoop (or one of their amazing bloody mary’s) the Lake of the Wood Resort is only 1/2 a mile up the road!

Please remember to always take all of your trash with you when you leave (plus some).  We’ve noticed a lot of trash left behind this summer and while the park attendants do keep things well maintained, resources are slim so they can’t keep up with the influx of people.  If you want to learn more about doing our part to keep our natural areas clean head over to the Leave No Trace to learn what this really means.  I want this beauty to be here for years to come for our children and grandchildren!
