BOATNIK IN GRANTS PASS

Since 1959, The Grants Pass Active Club has held Boatnik every Memorial Day weekend along the Rogue River in Grants Pass, Or...egon. For more than 50 years families have enjoyed this five day event that supports the children and youth programs of the communities of Southern Oregon.

The carnival begins Thursday afternoon at 1:00 and runs till midnight each night through Monday at 8:00. Located in Riverside park are featured rides for all ages. On the lower level is the main carnival rides and booths. The upper section, closer to park st., features kiddie rides to create a safer age appropriate atmosphere.

Come enjoy the intimacy of small batch brewing from 20 local and regional brewers; taste the velvety, deep, intense flavors that occur when beer meets wood.

The Little Woody Rogue Valley will gather some of the best breweries, cideries and whiskey distillers from across the Northwest. Local foods to compliment regional craft beverages will be available at the event.

Check out the small-batch barrel-aged whiskies & bourbons and hand-crafted barrel-aged unique ciders not found in stores. Get your tickets for Friday from 5-10pm (VIP early entry 4pm) and Saturday from noon-10pm.

Growler Fills with The Big Token

At the end of every Little Woody Event a select group of Gnomie Homies are allowed into the event to fill their Growlers with the remaining event nectar. From 9:30-10:00 we will sell attendees The Big Token which allows you to fill a growler of your choice from the remaining beer available on tap.

Keep in mind, some beers may not be available at this point in the event but you may take your pick of those that are. The growler fills cannot be consumed on premise and again, beer is based on availability. Why let all of that great tasting beer go to waste?

There’s not many festivals where you can go and watch a cob earth building demo alongside a female roller derby scrimmage. Walk twenty yards and see medieval combat skills in action, an edged weapons competition, and horseback gymnastics known as vaulting. Wander through the artisan Vendor Village and around the colorful twenty-foot May Pole, an ancient spring tradition from cultures around the world, to the front field where strong men and women are competing in Scottish Heavy Athletics, throwing stones and hurling stripped trees. A bluegrass band takes the stage and aerial silk performers are on deck, welcome to the Elk Mountain Highland Games & May Day Festival, an eclectic event that pulls the past into the present. Did we mention the kids can learn how to flint knap and make rope out of cordage?

SMUDGE POT STROLL

Opening night of the Pear Blossom Festival is a special evening in downtown Medford. 350 tickets will be sold for a walking and tasting tour around downtown Medford. With a each ticket, you will receive a wine glass and a pass to sample a taste of the specially prepared pear and local food themed items. With 13-15 downtown restaurants participating, the ticket holders will stroll with glass in hand, to sample the specialty creation of each chef. The stroll begins at 5pm and concludes at 9pm. With all that great food, stretching the legs, walking the downtown, listening to music at the Pear Blossom stage, it will be THE evening event of the year for downtown.
