INTRO TO GOLF JUNIORS

Ages 6 to 16

This is an introduction to golf for juniors. Come learn how to swing, chip and putt. We will have some targets to aim for and learn the rules of the game. No previous golf required. Students, bring junior size clubs if you have them (we will also have some to borrow), water, SPF, & wear comfortable clothing. A beginner camp for kids to learn the basics of basketball. Skills focused on this camp will be dribbling, passing, hand/eye coordination, and shooting. There will be many fun educational activities and parents are free to come and watch. Junior chefs will learn 4 different cuisines and cultures from around the world, all the while learning new kitchen skills and techniques. Each day we will visit a new country and cook up a entree, side dishes and a dessert. This is a more advanced class and all camps are hands-on!! In this class we will get into all of the exciting scientific workings of cooking. Each class is hands on as we explore some science experiments and how those ingredients work in recipes. Great for the child who loves science and cooking! These classes have been designed to show kids 8-14, eating healthy can taste great. We will be using essential oils, gluten-free, and dairy free options to create amazing summer snacks. Our hope is to show kids alternative food choices can be fun.

FOOD PRESERVATION AND EXPERIMENTATION with ROGUE VALLEY FARM TO SCHOOL

The Ashland Food Co-op has teamed up with Rogue Valley Farm to School to offer three different camps this summer. Each week campers will dive into food production, preparation and exploration, with a mix of farm and kitchen experiences that delight the senses and inspire the soul. Join Rogue Valley Farm to School staff as they cultivate the ability to grow and cook delicious, healthy, seasonal meals.

From pickles to jam, fruit roll ups to kale chips this class will experiment with all kinds of ways to preserve the bounty of the summer harvest to create tasty treats you can enjoy throughout the year. Please send your child with a healthy, non-sugary lunch each day. Snacks will be provided, and campers will go home with a variety of homemade goods at the end of the week.  Ages 7-10.

Camps will run 9am-1:30pm each day.
Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday: campers will cook in the Co-op Classroom.
Thursday-Friday: campers spend the day on-farm at the
SOU Center for Sustainability.

This June 19-23 & June 26-30, Andras Outfitters proudly presents the 4th annual youth fly fishing camp in Ashland, Oregon. With nearly 40 years of professional instructional and guiding experience, Rachel and Jim look forward to sharing their love of fly fishing and the outdoors with children ages 9-15. Briscoe School will serve as our basecamp with field trips scheduled to Ashland Creek and Billing’s Pond throughout the week. Confident, young anglers will float and fish the beautiful Rogue River with professional guides on Day 5, graduating with big smiles, fish stories, new skills and memories to last a lifetime!

Both five-day sessions will focus onHaving fun! /  Casting Technique / Fly Tying / Knot Tying / Fish Food / Reading Water / Presenting the Fly / Catching Fish!

ADVANCED TROUT CAMP

This August 14-18th, continue your child’s journey and education in fly fishing with a week at “Advanced Trout Camp”.  Designed to compliment AO’s Kid’s Fly Fishing Camp, this 5-day session welcomes anglers ages 10-15 that have knowledge of and the ability to perform straight-line and roll casts, execute strong knots and basic fly tying skills.  Once again, Briscoe School will serve as the basecamp with field trips scheduled to Ashland Creek and the Klamath River.  Campers will put their skills to the test on the Williamson River’s trophy redband rainbow trout on graduation day!

Each full day of camp will include morning instruction at three stations (full swing, putting, chipping), plus rules & etiquette, games, lunch and nine holes of golf in the afternoon, with an instructor accompanying each group.

RESOURCES AND PEOPLE CAMP

Applications are due May 5, 2017, or until all vacancies are filled. Applications are now being accepted from students between the ages of 13 to 18 from both rural and urban areas. They can be dowloaded at: https://www.blm.gov/rapcamp

The 26th annual RAP Camp will be held the week of June 11 to 17, 2017, at Camp Esther Applegate located at Lake of the Woods, Oregon.

The RAP Camp program is designed to educate students about natural resource management. Students have the opportunity to take part in hands-on natural resource sessions, outdoor recreation activities, and educational field trips. The camp allows kids to learn more about resources like fire ecology, wildlife, forestry, fisheries, archeology, wetlands, and botany – as well as careers in those fields. It also engages students in many outdoor activities like hiking, birding, swimming, and canoeing.

Students attending the camp will have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and make new friends, while participating in hands-on natural resource activities; a field trip to Crater Lake National Park; Cowboy poetry; a tour of a fish hatchery; astronomy talk; and tribal storytelling. All while sitting around the campfire!

Thanks to contributions from Federal, State, county, and private organizations the registration fee is only $225. Financial aid is available.
