UMPQUA VALLEY FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS - DAY TRIP FROM MEDFORD

The holiday season is here and if you are looking to add something to do to add to your holiday traditions list then you NEED to visit the Umqua Valley Festival of Lights.  We decided to take a quick trip up to Roseburg from Medford to check it out and are so happy that we did!

UMPQUA VALLEY FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS - Roseburg - Christmas Lights Trail - What to do in Southern Oregon

For $10 a car we were able to drive through, viewing all of the beautiful light displays.  Not only did we get to checkout the beautiful lights but the Umpqua Valley Festival of Lights is home to the World's Largest Nutcracker which will be recognized by Guinness World Records.

As we drove around exploring the festival, my personal favorite was the carousel, and  the toy solider with rocking horse, that actually rocked.  Ilias liked the Grinch who popped in and out so quickly I couldn't get a picture and Olivia's favorite was the mermaid.

We were able to drive through as many times as we wanted so that we could catch all of the details we missed the first time.  Ilias decided to make a game of counting all of the elves that were hidden throughout the park.  They also would pop out from behind the trees randomly so I couldn't catch a picture of them.

We only drove through twice but we could have driven through a couple more times, but our then three year old just wouldn't allow it. Our only regret is that we didn't make it up there sooner.

The Umpqua Valley Festival of Lights opens in November.  From opening day through Christmas Eve you can visit with Santa Claus and munch on cookies and hot cider at their Holiday Village.  Also, if you want to take the Wagon Rides instead of driving through yourself, November 22nd - Christmas Eve for $5 a person, you can enjoy their covered wagon while viewing the lights; just don't forget your winter coats and maybe a blanket (this is only available Thursday-Sundays)!  We can't wait to make it up there this year.  If you want to go, they will be open every night from November 18th-New Years Eve at 530pm.  They are located at River Forks Park in Roseburg  MAP.  There are signs posted everywhere so it is very easy to find.

We are sure that you and your family are going to be just enchanted as we were and you are going to want to go back year after year!

Happy Holidays!
