PEARSONEY FALLS - WATERFALL HIKING IN SOUTHERN OREGON WITH KIDS

Pearsony Falls is one one of those falls that kind of gets skipped over by its taller, more well known sisters Mill Creek and Barr Creek Falls, but in our opinion it is definitely a waterfall that stands all on its own.

Our favorite thing about Pearsony is its accessibility!  From the parking lot to the falls the hike is literally only ¼ of a mile, plus the trail is very wide, and though it is dirt, it is very well maintained so it is accessible for jogger strollers and I would even say even wheelchairs. It’s definitely a very good trail to take small children and even seniors who may need assistance.

When you get to the falls, you get to be up close and personal.  Though it is not very tall at twelve feet, it is a segmented, horsetail fall surrounded by lush, green forest and ferns and it is gorgeous.  Honestly it feels a little magical, Olivia swears that faeries live there.  If you walk a little further down the trail, there are little spots to sit by the stream, and Olivia loved playing in the little nooks.

If you would like to continue on the trail it takes you to views of Avenue of the Boulders, and even further on you will reach where Mill Creek Falls starts.  The trail is pretty rough so be prepared to climb over rocks and maybe even lose the trail a little bit.  Round trip the hike to the top of Mill Creek Falls is two miles.

In my opinion I would start with Pearsony Falls  because it is such a fast trek to see the falls and then head over to explore Mill Creek Falls.  Make a day of it and bring a picnic and then stop at Phil’s Frosty for gigantic ice cream cones and milk shakes.
