Spooky Haunts in Southern Oregon
I am the BIGGEST scaredy cat, but far be it for me to hold anyone back from visiting all the haunted places in southern Oregon!
GHOST TOWNS
GOLDEN, OREGON
Back in the 19th century Golden was a mining town that was home to 100 people. Now all that there is left is a church, a former residence, a barn, and a building that once was a post office and store. It’s on the National Register of Historic Places and we did visit when we were in Wolf Creek. See more photos and more about our visit HERE.
BUNCOM, OREGON
Buncom became a thriving gold mining camp on Sterling Creek in 1854. Since it was a day’s wagon ride from Jacksonville it later became the supply and distribution center for the farmers and ranchers in the Little Applegate Valley and then became a post office in 1896. Once the automobile was put into use there no longer was a need for Buncom so it closed down in 1916. All that is left are three buildings at the intersection of Little Applegate Road and Sterling Creek Road.
PLACES TO VISIT
Stay in haunted inns, visit the site of the last attempted train robbery in Oregon, and play in some corn mazes during the month October.
WOLF CREEK INN & TAVERN - WOLF CREEK
The Wolf Creek Inn and Tavern was a stagecoach stop along the Applegate Trail in the late 1800s. It was a community gathering place as well as a getaway for Hollywood celebrities throughout the years. There’s even a room dedicated to Jack London where he completed his novel, Valley of the Moon. Spring through summer you can get tours on Saturdays and Sundays, or book a room to get the full experience. See more about our stay HERE.
TUNNEL 13 - ASHLAND
I have not been Tunnel 13 and I’m not sure that I want to, A sure sign that it is creepy is that my friends want to go if I do go. I’m that friend that screams when I am scared and remember, me = big ol’ scaredy cat. My “friends” find it quite entertaining.
Tunnel 13 is the site of the last train robbery in Oregon where the DeAutremont brothers murdered four railroad employees in hopes of robbing the train of the half-million dollars worth of gold rumored to be on board. PARROTT HOUSE - ROSEBURG
Built in 1891 Parrott House and is in the National Historic Registry. Currently it is a restaurant, bourbon bar, and event venue. There have been reported screaming, disembodied footsteps, apparitions, and weird occurrences like groups of dead flies in the attack. PHEASANT FIELDS NIGHT CORN MAZE & NIGHT ZOMBIE TRAIN - MEDFORD
Bring your flashlight to ward off the ghosts and ghouls. They also serve warm apple cider and hot chocolate to enjoy while you are in the maze. Tickets are required.

FORT VANNOY FARMS HAUNTED CORN MAZE
Regular corn maze during the day, haunted by night. Get your tickets at the here for $22 per person.
